As the head of the development department of the "Center for Exhibition and Museum Projects", that had organized the exhibition, Vladimir Korolev mentioned, the exposition does not pretend to profound academicism, but all documents presented at the exhibition are of historical value.
– Unfortunately, before that we had very few people who had been studying the history of sport, the history of football purposefully. We will show the evolution of kits and balls. We will talk about the first football match that took place in St. Petersburg 120 years ago. Many organizations participated in the preparation of the exposition: the State Museum of Sports in Moscow, the Committees of the Administration of St. Petersburg, the football club “Zenit”, completists, and volunteer organizations, said Vladimir Korolev.
– The organizers of the exhibition did a good job, examined a lot of historical material, and finally made an interesting exhibit. The exhibition will certainly bring benefits and contribute to the promotion of sports and healthy lifestyles, said Svetlana Kuzmitskaya, the deputy chairman of the Committee for Physical Culture and Sport. - It is included in the plan of the public campaign "THE CITY IS READY"; It will be presented to the guests of the World Cup, who will be able to learn about the history of the Russian football. We also plan special excursions to the Historical Park "Russia - My History" for students of sports schools and universities of St. Petersburg.
According to Oleg Chernyaga, The Director General of the Museum and Exhibition Center "Russia - My History", the Historical Park is a place where many projects devoted to various aspects of the history of St. Petersburg will be presented, and the equipment of the complex allows the creation of unique installations that are interesting to all generations of visitors.
– Entrance to the football exhibition will be free, - said Oleg Chernyaga.
Within the framework of the exhibition, various events are planned, for example, a round table with the participation of representatives of football clubs.
– We want to discuss the problems of football in St. Petersburg with them. Also, within the framework of the exhibition, the meetings with famous football players will be organized, - Vladimir Korolev noticed.
In April in the historical park "Russia - My History" with the support of the Committee for Physical Culture and Sport of St. Petersburg, a round table with the participation of a large number of authoritative experts and historians of St. Petersburg football was held, in course of which the exposition series and the topics of the future exhibition, timed to the FIFA World Cup 2018™ were discussed. The round table was attended by the director of the "Center for Exhibition and Museum Projects" Sergei Vazhenin and the popular football TV commentator, the president of the Association of the St. Petersburg Press, Gennady Orlov.
